Determinants of FDI in Manufacturing in Emerging Countries in Sub-Saharan Africa

Description: Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in manufacturing is a significant driver of economic growth and development. However, Sub-Saharan African (SSA) countries lag behind other regions in attracting such investments despite improvements in macroeconomic fundamentals. This study investigates the macroeconomic determinants of manufacturing FDI—market size, natural resources, inflation, political stability, human capital, infrastructure, and trade openness—using panel data from Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Cote d’Ivoire between 1999 and 2022.
